Council Presents Silver Beaver Awards

Four volunteers were presented the local council’s highest award on November 21 during the annual recognition luncheon of the Conquistador Council.

Mark Gormley, newly elected council commissioner, former council camping chairman, executive board member, and principal of James Elementary School in Portales, was recognized for his many years of leadership in developing the Wehinahpay camp program and staff.

Lance Wiseman, a Scoutmaster in Hobbs, was recognized for the leadership he has provided in support of many district activities, camp programs, religious emblems, and his community service on the school board and United Way board.

Bob Kehrman, district chairman and Explorer post advisor in Carlsbad, was recognized for his leadership in the district achieveing, during a period with no district executive, the Friends of Scouting goal, membership growth, and the Quality District award.

Gary Miller, Scoutmaster in Roswell, was recognized for the leadership he has given to district activities, his efforts to improve training, strengthen communication and relationships within the LDS church, and his leadership to the council Jamboree contingent.

Conquistador Council 2010 Jamboree Patch On Sale

The Jamboree patch is available from the council Scout shop for only $10.00.  Proceeds from the sale of this limited edition patch go to the Jamboree fees.
The patch features blinking green lights and has a button loop.
The battery unit, on the back, is covered and has a plastic insert to protect the battery.
