Council Presents Silver Beaver Awards
Four volunteers were presented the local council’s highest award on November 21 during the annual recognition luncheon of the Conquistador Council.
Mark Gormley, newly elected council commissioner, former council camping chairman, executive board member, and principal of James Elementary School in Portales, was recognized for his many years of leadership in developing the Wehinahpay camp program and staff.
Lance Wiseman, a Scoutmaster in Hobbs, was recognized for the leadership he has provided in support of many district activities, camp programs, religious emblems, and his community service on the school board and United Way board.
Bob Kehrman, district chairman and Explorer post advisor in Carlsbad, was recognized for his leadership in the district achieveing, during a period with no district executive, the Friends of Scouting goal, membership growth, and the Quality District award.
Gary Miller, Scoutmaster in Roswell, was recognized for the leadership he has given to district activities, his efforts to improve training, strengthen communication and relationships within the LDS church, and his leadership to the council Jamboree contingent.
